Distant
looks, thru heat-waves, at an unusual white Sandhill'ish Crane.
This bird was amongst the large Sandhill Crane flock at Paul's
Lake, Muleshoe NWR on 9 January 2003. It had the size,
shape and red cap of a Sandhill Crane, but it had the pure white
body with black primaries of a Whooping Crane. Perhaps this
was a hybrid Whooping X Sandhill.
