The 1 October 2004 World Birding Center pelagic trip out of Port Isabel encountered rougher seas than normally expected but were rewarded very early on while still in rather shallow water with a Greater Shearwater.   The bird put on quite a show, banking around a nearby shrimp boat for several minutes, providing rather close views.   This individual will likely be the 12th documented record for the state of Texas, and the first documented record for the Lower Rio-Grande Valley.
